A Tour of the Wilmette Centennial Park Prairie

A Tour of the Wilmette Centennial Park Prairie

A 2-ACRE CREATED Midwestern Tall Grass PRAIRIE GROWING IN THE STORM-WATER DETENTION BASIN
Nature’s Best Hope Book Club, located in Lake Bluff , is sponsoring a “Tour of the Prairie and Book Discussion” at Wilmette’s Centennial Park . The tour and discussion will be led by Charlotte Adelman, prairie initiator/creator and co-author of books including “The  Midwestern Native Garden” and its companion volume, “Midwestern Native Shrubs and Trees”. Both books will be available for purchase and signing. Charlotte also co-authored “Prairie Directory of North America” (First & Second Editions).
Our book discussion can explore ideas about gardening and landscaping in harmony with nature, why and how to create small pocket prairies, larger detention basin prairies, oak groves and oak savannas and what to consider when choosing true native plant species so gardens can be aesthetically beautiful AND provide butterflies, bees, birds, and other wildlife with the greatest benefits.
Location: Wilmette Centennial ParkIntersection of  Glenview Road  & Crawford.
