Rotary Club of Wilmette Awards $1,800 Grant to Support Go Green Wilmette Internship Program
The Rotary Club of Wilmette has awarded a grant of $1,800 to Go Green Wilmette to help fund the organization’s Internship Program, an initiative that gives young people hands-on experience in environmental work while advancing sustainability efforts across the community.
Go Green Wilmette is a volunteer-driven nonprofit that promotes environmental awareness and action in the village. Through its internship program, students work alongside board members and community partners on real projects, building practical skills and a lasting commitment to environmental stewardship.
The grant was made possible through the Club’s Environment Committee, which supports local organizations working to protect and improve the natural environment. Protecting the environment is one of Rotary International’s seven areas of focus, and the Wilmette club has made local environmental partnerships a priority.
“Over the years, our Wilmette Rotary Club has been working closely with Go Green Wilmette to support the community’s commitment to environmental sustainability,” said Club Co-President Frank Hussey. “We believe that supporting GGW’s growing internship program is an excellent way to invest in our youth, who bring their energy and passion to make our community cleaner and healthier.”
“This grant will make a huge difference towards providing a front row seat for young adults to the action of local activism, how a small organization works and environmental stewardship”, added Meg Hagenah Go Green Board member and Internship Program Manager. “I look forward to working with our next class of interns, and I thank Rotary for helping us in our efforts to involve young people”.
The Rotary Club of Wilmette congratulates Go Green Wilmette and wishes its interns a successful and rewarding experience.
