Annette Altpeter joined Go Green Wilmette in May 2024. She attended New Trier High School and is entering her sophomore year at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she studies Marketing and Supply Chain Management with a minor in Sustainability.
Before joining Go Green Wilmette, she developed a passion for community outreach and creating opportunities for people to connect with one another as a leader of multiple clubs at school. Annette’s interest in sustainability grew through her involvement in community initiatives focused on making sustainable choices more accessible and engaging. At UW-Madison, she continues to pursue both her interests in sustainability and business as a member of the Ethical and Responsible Business Network and leader of Women in Business.
Notable achievements for Annette at Go Green Wilmette this summer include leading the annual Sidewalk Sale, helping coordinate the first Young Adult Eco Social, and directing all marketing for the new community Bike Bus program. Through her work with the Bike Bus, she has helped promote an initiative that encourages kids to choose biking as a fun and sustainable way to get to school. She also developed a manual which was distributed by the Active Transportation Alliance and designed to help all communities in Chicago learn how to start their own Bike Bus.
Annette has greatly enjoyed the opportunity to combine creativity with community engagement. Whether helping residents discover sustainable transportation options through the Bike Bus or creating hands-on activities for families at the Sidewalk Sale, she has valued seeing how local events can turn sustainability from an abstract idea into something people can participate in themselves.
Looking ahead, Annette hopes to build a career that combines business, community engagement, and sustainability. She is particularly interested in using creative and collaborative approaches to help organizations connect with their communities and develop efficient solutions that have a meaningful impact.
