Go Green Wilmette works closely with the Village of Wilmette. Below are just some of the ways that various members of the GGW Board interacts with the village on a variety of topics.
WE PARTNER
We work with the Village of Wilmette in the following ways:
- Promote business recycling
- Organize Styrofoam collection
- Provide green tips for Village communications

WE OBSERVE AND SPEAK UP
We monitor Village meeting agendas and attend meetings so we can observe and speak up when environmental issues are discussed. We participate(d) in the:
- Adoption and enforcement of ordinances
- Development of the downtown Master Plan
- Promotion of renewable energy option for the electrical aggregation program
- Establishment of Wilmette’s Elmwood Dunes
- Planning for the reconstruction of Central Avenue
- Meetings of the Wilmette Environmental and Energy Commission
- Discussions of pedestrian and bicycling issues
WE INFORM
We inform our Village when we:
- Communicate with staff, Trustees and Commissioners
- Suggest programs that have worked well in other communities
- Submit statements of endorsement or opposition
- Publish candidate responses to questions we pose to all candidates at election time
- Include staff, Trustees and Commissioners in Go Green Illinois programs

We participate in many Village-sponsored events:
- Wilmette French Market
- Summer fun events
- Chamber of Commerce programs
- Parades
