Styrofoam Collection at Public Works through Jan 31

Getting gifts shipped or packed in Styrofoam this season? Residents are invited to drop off white block Styrofoam for recycling at the Village’s Public Works Facility through January 31.

Please follow these guidelines:

  • Only clean, white Styrofoam in blocks and sheets is accepted
  • NO Styrofoam “peanuts”
  • NO food-related Styrofoam, including containers, trays, or cups. These items can be disposed of through the curbside Hefty ReNew program. Visit Wilmette.gov/heftyrenew to learn more!
  • Styrofoam coolers must be clean and empty

Remember, small pieces of Styrofoam of any kind, can be included in the Hefty Renew Program year round.

New LED lights use a fraction of the energy of older holiday lights. Upgrade to energy-efficient lights this year and drop off old or broken lights at the Village’s Public Works facility for recycling. The Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) and its member communities are offering a Holiday Light Recycling Program, free of charge, for all SWANCC area residents.
