Plastic Free July is a global movement to help people be part of the plastic pollution solution. Recycling, while beneficial, is not the solution – we have to reduce all plastic use, especially single-use plastic of all kinds. Here’s how:
- When visiting the French Market, bring small containers and produce bags along with your tote bag, or let your produce ride plastic-free in your market bag.
- Likewise, bring reusable tote bags to grocery stores so you do not need to use plastic or paper bags.
- Participate in our bag share program at the French Market. Donate your spare bags at the market or drop them off at 117 16th Avenue.
- “Just Say No” to single-use plastic whenever possible, like bags, water bottles, take-out containers, and cutlery.
- Find many more resources, tips and suggestions on the Plastic Free July website.
- Visit Beyond Plastics, one of the leaders in the fight to reduce plastic.
- Call Congress about the Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act.
- Commit to at least one additional way to reduce plastic in your life.
