Go Green Wilmette will host a follow up meeting with representatives from many Chicagoland suburbs to discuss the vexing problem of leaf blowers. The purpose of the May 14th meeting is to compare notes and share progress reports on leaf blower ordinances and education. In addition to working towards restrictions on the use of gas-powered leaf blowers, many groups are eager to change the suburban mindset of what a “well-maintained” yard should look like so that homeowners no longer expect the “blown-clean” look that is an accepted part of conventional yard care service.
Now is the time to talk to your yard care provider and remind them of the gas-powered leaf blower restrictions that will go into effect on May 15th. Ask them to obey the ban and reduce the use of all types of leaf blowers on your property. Review GGW’s green lawn care guidelines here.
