In an interview with a GGW Board Member, Central Station Coffee & Tea owners had this to say:
Sustainability is an important part of our business. We continue to make improvements within the café to lighten our carbon footprint which has also sparked some great conversations with our customers.
We separately collect our coffee / espresso grounds, filters, food scraps, tea leaves, napkins, paper towels, to be composted with Collective Resource (with the help of a Green Grant from GGW) Composting turns these items into nutrient rich soil that goes right back into our earth. We also recycle our paper, plastic, glass, and aluminum items.
Getting something to go? You’ll notice that our to-go bags are paper (instead of plastic) and our utensils are compostable, which we will ask you first if they’re needed. Dining in with us will give you the option of using our reusable cups, mugs & silverware. We also offer a $0.50 discount to customers who bring their own reusable mug!
All of our efforts are reducing the amount we send to the landfills while also supporting our circular economy.
