Issues with Plastic Food Packaging!
Growing amounts of single use plastic surrounds the food we buy at groceries, and research increasingly shows that it ends up in the food, not just around it.
Federal Senate bill S.2341, introduced in July 2025, would reform how the Food and Drug Administration assesses chemicals added to food. Called the Ensuring Safe and Toxic-Free Foods Act, the bill would help to address the proliferation of single-use plastic that encases so much of our food.
The PlasticPollutionCoalition is asking the public to contact their legislators about this issue. Click below to see a letter that asks representatives to pay attention to plastic and food.
Pumpkin Pitch!

November 28
9am-1pm

Join the Village of Wilmette and Go Green Wilmette to pitch your pumpkins and gourds!
This event helps to reduce landfill greenhouse gas emissions from decomposing organics. Pumpkins are 90% water and produce a useful, nutrient-rich organic product, which helps to restore eroded and nutrient-depleted soils.
Please remember to remove candles and decorations from your pumpkins before composting.
